This policy covers the Sagamore Tides app and the Sagamore Tides Watch Face for Wear OS, both published by Sagamore Studio LLC.
We do not run a server for these apps and they have no accounts. We collect nothing about you and store nothing about you, so there is nothing for us to share or sell.
What the app uses your location for
The Sagamore Tides app asks for location permission so that it can:
- List tide stations nearest first. NOAA publishes around 3,500 tide stations, and there is no practical way to type a name on a watch.
- Get the wind forecast where you are. Your latitude
and longitude, rounded to two decimal places, are sent to the US
National Weather Service at
api.weather.govto look up the forecast for your area. - Show speed and course over ground. These come from the watch's own GPS and are shown on screen. They are not recorded.
The app uses location only while the app or the watch face is in use. It never asks for background location.
You can refuse the permission and the app still works. Stations are then listed outward from Woods Hole, and wind, speed and course show a dash.
What leaves your watch
The watch contacts two public services run by the US government:
- NOAA CO-OPS (
api.tidesandcurrents.noaa.gov) for the list of stations and tide predictions. These requests carry the station you chose, not your location. - National Weather Service (
api.weather.gov) for the wind forecast. This request carries your rounded position, as described above.
Your watch contacts both services directly. Nothing passes through us, and we receive no copy. Each service has its own privacy practices.
What stays on your watch
- The station you chose.
- Downloaded tide predictions and the last wind forecast, so the readings still show without a connection.
- Your settings: colour scheme, clock format, which marks the dial shows, and the bearing you set.
All of this stays in the app's private storage on the watch and is deleted when you uninstall the app.
The watch face
The watch face has no permissions and no network access. It shows what the Sagamore Tides app sends it, along with the complications you pick for its two side slots. Those complications come from other apps on your watch, under those apps' own policies.
Purchases
Google Play handles purchases of the app. We do not receive your payment details.
What we do not do
- No accounts, sign-in or email collection.
- No analytics, crash reporting, advertising or third-party trackers in either app.
- No selling or sharing of data, because we hold none.
Children
Neither app is directed at children, and neither collects personal information from anyone.
